All About Blackjack Tournaments

Blackjack tournaments are great! The reason I think so is because you can play a ton of blackjack while only risking your entrance fee. It allows you to get more experience, while not having to play against the casino, but against other fellow blackjack players. That means that everybody faces the same casino edge and there is theoretical parity between players. But, obviously, some players understand strategy better than others, so they will always have an edge over the average player.

So, in case you don't know anything about blackjack tournaments, let me explain how they work. Everybody gets the same bankroll at the beginning of the tournament and whoever has the most money left at the end of a time period or after a certain number of hands wins the tournament.

If there are several tables going for the tournament, each tournament first determines its winner and then the winners play against each other to determine the winner of the tournament. The bigger the tournament the more tables one has to win to finally win the entire tournament.

Payouts are determined based on the number of players who entered the tournament and should be posted during the tournament. The percentage payout table is usually also posted before, but it adjusts basted on the number of players participating.

Because only the player with the most chips at the end advances, people will play much more aggressive than in regular blackjack. This is especially true for the last hand on each table. Because everybody should know approximately how many chips each person has, there is no reason not to risk as much as you have to for the last hand in order to catch up to the chip leader.

So, as you can tell, blackjack tournaments are pretty straight forward. Try them out if you want to have some fun playing blackjack. But, before going to a casino planning to enter a blackjack tournament, make sure you check that they actually offer blackjack tournaments and at what times these are happening.

Good luck!
